This project holds a special place in our hearts, as not only was this a prideful renovation in our community, but it was also for our own team member, Bradley. Every great garden transformation starts with a challenge, and this project was no exception. What began as an overgrown, uneven and unusable space from the previous owner was completely reimagined into a modern, low-maintenance garden built for everyday enjoyment. From replacing old boundaries and building sturdy new decking, to laying fresh paving and artificial grass, our team worked carefully through each stage to deliver a space that’s both practical and inviting. Here’s a closer look at the journey, step by step.

When we first stepped onto this garden, it was closer to a jungle than a usable space. Overgrown weeds and tangled grass had completely taken over, making the area feel neglected and overwhelming. Not to mention a decrepit fence and a tired old shed base draining life from the space. Before we could bring any vision to life, our job was to strip it right back to basics.
The old fence was more of a shipwreck than a protective boundary. With loose panels and even looser nails, not to mention the absolute eye-soring nature of the fence, this was the first change necessary.

With the overgrowth cleared, the true state of the space was revealed: a marshy, clay-heavy ground layer that offered little promise on its own. At the same time, the old, crumbling fence was replaced with a brand new boundary, immediately bringing structure and definition back to the garden.

From there, we began building the framework for the new decking on top of the shed base. This stage is all about precision and preparation, ensuring the structure is solid and built to last.

Next came the damp-proof membrane, protecting the timber from moisture and future-proofing the installation. We also used this time to apply a protective paint layer to the fences to prevent weathering. With the first decking boards going down, the transformation was beginning to take real shape.

Once the decking was complete, attention turned to the rest of the garden. We laid and compacted hardcore, creating the perfect foundation for the artificial turf that would follow. Every layer matters in ensuring a finish that not only looks good but performs long term.

With the turf in place, the remaining areas were prepared for paving. The hardcore was levelled and compacted, setting the stage for a seamless slab installation.

Midway through paving, the design vision was now clearly emerging. Clean lines and smart layout choices were replacing what had once been a cluttered, unusable space.

The finished result: a complete garden transformation. Fresh fencing, a stylish new decking area, crisp slabs, and low-maintenance artificial grass all working together to create a space that’s as practical as it is beautiful.
